Five northeast Indiana counties reported double-digit increases in COVID-19 cases on Wednesday.
And only Adams and Wabash counties remain in the state’s category as safest for community spread of the virus.
The remainder of the counties are in the “yellow” zone, or second-best for COVID spread. The state’s dashboard measures not just the 7-day positivity rate, but also cases per 100,000 residents.
Northeast Indiana, and the rest of the state, has seen rising numbers in both cases and positivity over the past three weeks, even as vaccination numbers continue to climb.
More than 1.44 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated against the illness, according to the Indiana Department of Health.
But the state’s 7-day positivity rate is now up to 4.9 percent, and there were 1,233 new cases reported Wednesday.
Noble, Huntington, Kosciusko and Whitley counties each saw double digit increases Wednesday.
Allen County reported 85 new cases. No new deaths were reported anywhere in the area.
The 7-day positivity rate for northeast Indiana is at 5.9 percent.

- Adams County: 2 new cases for 3,376 total. No new deaths for 52 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.5%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 25.6%.
- Allen County: 85 new cases for 38,981 total. No new deaths for 666 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.1%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 25.6%.
- DeKalb County: 6 new cases for 4,090 total. No new deaths for 83 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.9%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 22.7%.
- Huntington County: 16 new cases for 3,764 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.3%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 28.8%.
- Kosciusko County: 14 new cases for 9,051 total. No new deaths for 113 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.8%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 21.2%.
- LaGrange County: 5 new cases for 2,509 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.9%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 16.3%.
- Noble County: 15 new cases for 5,369 total. No new deaths for 83 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.3%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 21.5%.
- Steuben County: 8 new cases for 3,613 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.8%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 32.2%.
- Wabash County: 2 new cases for 3,458 total. No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.3%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 24.9%.
- Wells County: 3 new cases for 2,847 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.1%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 23.9%.
- Whitley County: 10 new cases for 3,749 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.4%. Percentage of county fully-vaccinated 25.7%.
