April 15: COVID-19 Positivity Rates Rise, Two New Deaths Reported

Two new deaths due to COVID-19 were reported in northeast Indiana on Thursday, as well as 143 new cases.

 

The area’s 7-day positivity rate stands at 6.1 percent, and only Adams and Wabash counties remain in the state’s safest category for community spread, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

Seven-day positivity rates in the area range from 1.4 percent in Adams County to 10.9 percent in LaGrange County.

 

Hospitalizations are at 81 due to COVID-19.

 

Statewide, the 7-day positivity rate is at 5 percent, and there were 1,408 new cases reported.

 

Nearly 1.5 million Hoosiers are fully vaccinated, according to state records.

 

Allen County issued a reminder to those coming for their vaccination appointment to bring their official identification, and a guardian if under 18, according to a release from the Allen County Health Department.

 

Staff will accept two or more unofficial IDs, such as a gun permit with a signature, Medicare/Medicaid card, or a lease or rental agreement with a signature.

 

Other IDs accepted include:

  • Current school ID with photo and name
  • Current employee ID with photo and name
  • Copy of police/fire report if ID was stolen/lost within 6 months
  • Voter registration card with signature
  • Driver's registration
  • Bankcard with signature
  • Current vehicle registration or title
  • Previous year's tax return or tax-exempt form
  • SNAP Card
  • Indiana unemployment or child support card
  • WIC card with signature
  • Discount club membership card with photo
  • Hunting/fishing license with signature
  • Medical consent form or hospital discharge form with signature
  • Library card with signature
  • Court papers with signature
  • Probation documents on letterhead
  • Work release/inmate card with photo or signature
  • Citilink card with photo

Northeast Indiana totals for April 15:

  • Adams County: No new cases for 3,376 total. No new deaths for 52 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.4%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 25.9%.
  • Allen County: 60 new cases for 39,041 total. 1 new death for 667 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.4%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 26.3%.
  • DeKalb County: 12 new cases for 4,102 total. 1  new death for 84 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.6%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 23.1%.
  • Huntington County: 8 new cases for 3,769 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.8%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 29.4%.
  • Kosciusko County: 16 new cases for 9,068 total. No new deaths for 113 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.2%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 22.1%.
  • LaGrange County: 3 new cases for 2,514 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.9%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 16.8%.
  • Noble County: 12 new cases for 5,379 total.  No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.5%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 22.2%
  • Steuben County: 14 new cases for 3,626 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.2%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 32.6%.
  • Wabash County: 8 new cases for 3,466 total.  No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.0%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 25.4%.
  • Wells County: 4 new cases for 2,851 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.3%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 25.3%.
  • Whitley County: 6 new cases for 3,755 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.3%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 26.3%.
