The 7-day COVID-19 positivity rates for both the region and around the state have inched up at the end of the week.
One new death was reported in northeast Indiana, in Wabash County, and there were 146 new cases reported on Friday.
The 7-day positivity rate for the area was up to 5.9 percent, after having gone back down to about 5.4 percent earlier in the week.
The state’s 7-day positivity rate on Friday was at 5.1 percent, up from 4.7 percent earlier in the week.
There are 79 residents of the area hospitalized with COVID-19, and there is about 21 percent of ICU capacity available in northeast Indiana’s hospitals.
Only LaGrange and Steuben counties remain in the orange, the state’s second-worst category for COVID spread.
Adams, Wabash and Wells counties are in the state’s best, or blue, category. The remaining counties in northeast Indiana are in the yellow, the second-best category.
The state measures COVID safety via 7-day positivity and cases per 100,000 residents.
Northeast Indiana COVID-19 totals for May 7:
- Adams County: No new cases for 3,406 total. No new deaths for 54 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.1%. Total of population fully vaccinated 31.8%.
- Allen County: 76 new cases for 40,607 total. No new deaths for 675 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.7%. Total of population fully vaccinated 37.3%.
- DeKalb County: 12 new cases for 4,300 total. No new deaths for 84 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.3%. Total of population fully vaccinated 31.3%.
- Huntington County: 16 new cases for 3,890 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 37.5%.
- Kosciusko County: 11 new cases for 9,378 total. No new deaths for 117 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.2%. Total of population fully vaccinated 29.4%.
- LaGrange County: 5 new cases for 2,653 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.1%. Total of population fully vaccinated 21.4%.
- Noble County: 7 new cases for 5,588 total. No new deaths for 83 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.1%. Total of population fully vaccinated 28.9%.
- Steuben County: 9 new cases for 3,838 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.3%. Total of population fully vaccinated 40.4%.
- Wabash County: 3 new cases for 3,533 total. 1 new death for 79 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.0%. Total of population fully vaccinated 33%.
- Wells County: 6 new cases for 2,910 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.2%. Total of population fully vaccinated 32.8%.
- Whitley County: 3 new cases for 3,947 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positvitiy rate at 7.9%. Total of population fully vaccinated 35.5%.
