Three new COVID-19 deaths were reported in northeast Indiana on Friday, bringing the total of area residents killed by the virus to 1,426.

There were 100 new cases reported Friday, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

The highest number of those infected with COVID-19 around Indiana remain those between ages 20-29.

In northeast Indiana, the percentages are largely spread evenly between those ages 0 to 59, with the greatest increase seen in recent days in the 0-19 age group.

But the Pfizer vaccination is now available to those 12 years of age and older, which is altering the way the state is tallying the percentage of vaccinated populations, causing them to decrease as the number eligible goes up.

That change brought all northeast Indiana counties down below 40 percent for the total of those eligible.

There are 2.25 million Hoosiers fully vaccinated against the illness.

Statewide, there were 925 new cases reported, and an overall 7-day positivity rate of 5.2 percent.
