May 19: All NE Indiana Counties Out Of Orange For COVID Spread

Screenshot of the Indiana Department of Health

Northeast Indiana was home to 120 of the 819 new COVID-19 cases reported in the state on Wednesday.

According to the state health department, the 7-day positivity rate in the region is at about 4.4 percent.

No new deaths were reported in the area, according to state and local health department data.

Indiana’s COVID-19 dashboard now shows how many cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children, or MIS-C, have been reported statewide. The complication is relatively rare, but can be deadly. While the cause of the illness is not specifically known, it appeared in children who had been diagnosed with COVID-19, or had been around someone who had COVID.

There have been 89 cases of MIS-C so far in the state, with the mean age of those affected around 10 years old, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

No northeast Indiana counties remain in the state’s worst- or second-worst category for COVID spread. All of the region is in the yellow, or second best category, except for Kosciusko, Wells, Adams and Wabash counties, which remain in the best category.
