May 20: Area Positivity Rates All Declining

One new death due to COVID-19 was reported in northeast Indiana, this time in Wabash County.

 

Overall, there were 133 new cases reported Thursday, and the 7-day positivity rate for the area is now down to 4.2 percent, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

Steuben County still has the highest 7-day positivity rate, but that is now down to 7.1 percent, having been up to over 11 percent earlier this month.

 

More than 2.37 million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against the illness, and statewide hospitalizations are continuing an overall decline, having been up to nearly 1,000 earlier in the month.

 

There were 929 new cases reported statewide, and eight new deaths.

 

All of northeast Indiana is seeing their overall positivity rates decline, according to the state’s advisory dashboard.

 

Wabash, Wells, Adams, Huntington, and Kosciusko counties are all in the “blue”, the state’s best category based on 7-day positivity rates and cases per 100,000 residents. The remainder of the area is in the second-best category.

 

Northeast Indiana statistics for May 20:

  • Adams County: 2 new cases for 3,433 total. No new deaths for 55 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.7%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 30.9%.
  • Allen County: 56 new cases for 41,256 total. No new deaths for 681 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.9%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 39.9%.
  • DeKalb County: 9 new cases for 4,362 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.3%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 34.4%.
  • Huntington County: 7 new cases for 3,964 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.1%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 40.3%.
  • Kosciusko County: 19 new cases for 9,499 total. No new deaths for 117 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.3%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 32.3%.
  • LaGrange County: 6 new cases for 2,699 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.2%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 20.5%.
  • Noble County: 15 new cases for 5,688 total. No new deaths for 84 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.3%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 30.9%.
  • Steuben County: 4 new cases for 3,927 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.1%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 40.2%.
  • Wabash County: 5 new cases for 3,561 total. 1 new death for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.0%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 33.5%.
  • Wells County: 3 new cases for 2,927 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.2%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 35.3%.
  • Whitley County: 8 new cases for 4,002 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.5%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 37.8%.
