Twelve Hoosiers died of COVID-19 on Monday, as reported Tuesday by the Indiana Department of Health.
Four of those deaths were in northeast Indiana.
According to state and local data, two deaths were reported in Allen County, and single deaths were reported in Noble and LaGrange counties.
There were only 49 new cases of the illness reported in the region on Tuesday, and the 7-day positivity rate is down to 4.3 percent.
There are now 2.44 million Hoosiers fully vaccinated against COVID, and 797 individuals hospitalized.
Tuesday’s report of Monday’s numbers show 525 new cases around the state, the lowest number since late February.
The northeast Indiana total of 49 is the lowest reported number of new cases of COVID-19 since August.
Northeast Indiana totals on May 25:
- Adams County: 1 new case for 3,438 total. No new deaths for 55 total. 7-day positivity rate 2%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 31.4%.
- Allen County: 20 new cases for 41,401 total. 2 new deaths for 683 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.6%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 41.4%
- DeKalb County: 3 new cases for 4,379 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.5%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 35.5%.
- Huntington County: 5 new cases for 3,983 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.6%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 41.6%.
- Kosciusko County: 8 new cases for 9,534 total. No new deaths for 117 total. 7-day positivity rate 4.6%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 33%.
- LaGrange County: 1 new case for 2,704 total. 1 new death for 71 total. 7-day positivity rate 5%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 21.1%.
- Noble County: 4 new cases for 5,724 total. 1 new death for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate 4.8%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 31.7%.
- Steuben County: 4 new cases for 3,940 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate 7.4%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 40.5%.
- Wabash County: 1 new case for 3,571 total. No new death for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate 3.1%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 34.3%.
- Wells County: No new cases for 2,932 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate 1.7%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 35.7%.
- Whitley County: 2 new cases for 4,021 total. No new deaths for 40 total. 7-day positivity rate 5.1%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 39%.
