Albion Animal Sanctuary to Take in 'Tiger King' Tigers

BLACK PINE ANIMAL SANCTUARY/FACEBOOK

An Indiana animal sanctuary is providing refuge to four of the tigers seized from the Tiger King Park in Oklahoma.

The Department of Justice seized 69 big cats from the park, owned by Jeff and Lauren Lowe, over “ongoing Endangered Species Act violations.” The park was made famous after Netflix released a Tiger King documentary last year.

Black Pine Animal Sanctuary in Albion worked alongside the Department of Justice, law enforcement and other animal sanctuaries to rescue the big cats.

Executive director Trish Nichols says Black Pine is honored to help in the recovery of the animals.

“We really appreciate the Department of Justice’s approach to provide these animals with quality home and quality care.”

Black Pine is the only accredited multi-species animal sanctuary in the midwest.
