Allen County Schools Score Above State ILEARN Average

Allen County’s public and diocesan school districts consistently scored above the state’s average on the ILEARN assessments administered earlier this year.

The Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) published the results of their assessments Wednesday, reminding the public that this year’s results shouldn’t be compared to results from 2019.

The IDOE report says the academic impacts of the pandemic were significant. The impacts in mathematics were significant across all grade levels and impacts in English/Language Arts (ELA) while more moderate were also consistent across all grade levels.

The average proficiency for Allen County schools was about 45 percent in ELA and 40 percent in math. Statewide, the average proficiency was 38 percent in ELA and 32 percent in math.

The IDOE suggests using these assessments as a new baseline.
