Indiana saw more than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 Tuesday, the highest number recorded since mid-May.

That number included 182 in northeast Indiana, the highest number since May 5, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

Two new deaths were recorded in the area--in Huntington and Kosciusko counties.

There were 15 new deaths recorded statewide, and the 7-day positivity rate is up to 6.3 percent. Locally, the 7-day positivity rate is at 6.7 percent.

The Centers for Disease Control updated its guidance for masks Tuesday afternoon, urging even the fully-vaccinated to wear masks indoors in areas where the virus is actively circulating.

The area’s highest positivity rate for the past 7 days is in Steuben County, at 14.7 percent.
