There will be a Third District Congressional Debate afterall. Fort Wayne Radio Station WOWO announced today (Monday) that it is hosting a debate between Republican Congressman Jim Banks and his 2022 challengers, Democrat Gary Snyder and Independent Nathan Gotsch.
WOWO’s programming lineup predominantly features conservative hosts such as Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck and Dan Bongino.
In a statement, Gotsch says in part “It was because of public pressure from voters that Jim Banks agreed to this debate. I’m sad that’s what it took, but what matters in the end is that they’ll get the opportunity to compare each of the three candidates side-by-side.”
Snyder, meanwhile, says he is happy to debate Banks and Gotsch, but still blames Banks for the debate not happening on live television.
“While I would prefer to debate on live television, he seems to be too cowardly to do that. I promised the Third District voters I would debate Jim anywhere at any time, even if that means doing it on a local radio station.”
According to WOWO’s website, the debate will air on Nov. 1 and will be livestreamed on WOWO’s Facebook page.
Election Day is Nov. 8.
Banks did not reply to WBOI’s request for comment.
