Foster Park is slated for additional improvements. The park is known for its fantastic beds of spring flowers.

The Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department is looking ahead to projects it has planned for the new year.

After completing 12 capital improvement projects last year, the department has 17 planned for 2023.

In a statement, the department says the City of Fort Wayne is investing $3 million in those projects that will include the Foster Park Golf Course Master Plan, pavement improvements to Foster Park, Salomon Farm Park and Buckner Park and Franklin Park splash pad shade structures among others.

Parks and Recreation Department Director Steve McDaniel says planning these projects was a collaborative effort between the Parks and Recreation Department, the City Council, Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and donors.

There is an online survey where the public can weigh in on the plan for the next five years, as well as a survey online for the public to weigh in on the master plan for the Foster Park Golf course.

McDaniel says the Foster Park survey will soon be adjusted to include questions about possibly adjusting the trails after public criticism.
