April 28: Northeast Indiana COVID Map Varies For Community Spread

There are now four northeast Indiana counties in the state’s safest zone for COVID-19 spread, but there are also four in the state’s second-worst zone.

 

According to the Indiana Department of Health on Wednesday, Adams, Huntington, Wabash and Wells counties are all in the “blue”, measured by 7-day positivity rates and cases per 100,000 residents.

 

DeKalb, LaGrange, Steuben and Whitley counties are all in the “orange”, with positivity scores ranking from 9.4 to 14.5 for the past seven days.

 

One new death was reported in Allen County, bringing that county’s total to 673 the number killed by COVID-19. Allen County remains in the “yellow”, the state’s second-best category.

 

There were 190 new cases reported in the area. 

 

In northeast Indiana, the division of new cases is largely divided evenly among those in the ages between 0-19, 20 to 29, 50 to 59, and 40 to 49. 

 

There are 96 residents of the area hospitalized with the illness, among the 913 statewide.

 

Nearly 1.8 million Hoosiers have been fully vaccinated against the illness.

 

Northeast Indiana data for April 28:

  • Adams County: No new cases for 3,387 total. No new deaths for 54 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.2%. Percentage of county population fully vaccinated 29.7%.
  • Allen County: 76 new cases for 39,922 total. 1 new death for 673 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.3%. Percentage of county population fully vaccinated 32.8%.
  • DeKalb County: 11 new cases for 4,231 total. No new deaths for 84 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.4%. Percentage of county population fully vaccinated 26.9%.
  • Huntington County: 8 new cases for 3,833 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.8%. Percentage of county population fully vaccinated 33.5%.
  • Kosciusko County: 37 new cases for 9,276 total. No new deaths for 115 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 26.2%.
  • LaGrange County: 10 new cases for 2,603 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 14.5%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 19.5%.
  • Noble County: 13 new cases for 5,503 total. No new deaths for 83 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 25.9%.
  • Steuben County: 19 new cases for 3,761 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.2%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 36%.
  • Wabash County: 4 new cases for 3,503 total. No new deaths for 78 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated 29.4%.
  • Wells County: 9 new cases for 2,892 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.4%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated at 29.3%.
  • Whitley County: 4 new cases for 3,878 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.4%. Percentage of county fully vaccinated at 31.7%.
