April 29: COVID Numbers Stabilize And Vaccinations Near 30 Percent

Seven area counties now have about 30 percent of their populations fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Indiana Department of Health. 

 

Northeast Indiana’s 7-day positivity rate is down to 5.7 percent, falling a few tenths of a percent since earlier this week.

 

Indiana’s positivity rate is down to 4.5 percent, with 1,406 new cases reported on Thursday.

 

Whitley, DeKalb, Steuben and LaGrange counties remain in the state’s second-worst category for COVID-19 spread, according to the state’s dashboard.

 

Adams, Wells, Huntington and Wabash counties are in the state’s best category.

 

Allen and Noble counties are in the state’s second-best category, and show improvement in their overall scores for community spread.

 

One new death was reported today in Kosciusko County.

 

Walk-in vaccination appointments are now available at the Parkview Mirro Center for Research and Innovation between noon and 6 p.m. Monday through Fridays, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.

 

The Allen County Health Department’s vaccination site at the Coliseum will also be offering walk-in appointments.

 

Walk-ins will only be accepted at the Allen County site on Wednesdays from 1-4 p.m., Thursdays from 2-5:30 p.m., Fridays from 1-4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10-11:30 a.m.

 

Northeast Indiana totals for April 29:

  • Adams County: 2 new cases for 3,389 total. No new deaths for 54 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.1%. County population fully vaccinated 29.9%.
  • Allen County: 69 new cases for 39,991 total. No new deaths for 673 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.7%. County population fully vaccinated 33.4%.
  • DeKalb County: 9 new cases for 4,240 total. No new deaths for 84 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.2%. County population fully vaccinated 27.5%.
  • Huntington County: 6 new cases from 3,839 total. No new deaths for 80 total. 7-day positibity rate at 2.5%. County population fully vaccinated 34.1%.
  • Kosciusko County: 17 new cases for 9,293 total. 1 new death for 116 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.6%. County population fully vaccinated at 26.8%.
  • LaGrange County: 3 new cases for 2,606 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivitiy rate at 12.3%. County population fully vaccinated at 19.9%.
  • Noble County: 10 new cases for 5,513 total. No new deaths for 83 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.3%. County population fully vaccinated at 26.5%.
  • Steuben County: 15 new cases for 3,776 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.7%. County population fully vaccinated at 36.4%.
  • Wabash County: 5 new cases for 3,508 total. No new deaths for 78 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.4%. County population fully vaccinated at 30.2%.
  • Wells County: 3 new cases for 2,895 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.5%. County population fully vaccinated at 30.5%.
  • Whitley County: 18 new cases for 3,895 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.5%. County population fully vaccinated at 32.5%.
