There were six new COVID-19 deaths in northeast Indiana reported on Monday, including three in Wabash County.

However, 7-day positivity rates in a number of area counties were below 6 percent, and Noble, LaGrange, and Kosciusko counties have joined Adams and Wells counties in the “yellow” for COVID-19 safety, according to the state’s dashboard.

Those between the ages of 50-59 make up the majority of those infected with COVID-19 in northeast Indiana, at 16.1 percent. Area residents between the ages of 20 to 29 and 40 to 49 are tied at 15.7 percent.

There are 111 northeast Indiana residents hospitalized with COVID-19.

Also in northeast Indiana, the Fort Wayne Children’s Zoo’s two Sumatran tigers are on the mend after testing positive for COVID-19 over the weekend.

According to zoo officials, the male tiger, Bugara, had a dry cough that is nearly gone. The female tiger, Indah, saw a slight decline in her appetite, but is back to eating normally.

The infections remain under investigation by the Allen County Department of Health and the Indiana Board of Animal Health.
