Aug. 20: COVID Testing Centers Increase Hours Amid Rising Virus Activity

Kosciusko County’s COVID-19 testing site at the Bowen Center is expanding its hours, again, as demand for the tests continues to climb along with rising COVID numbers.

Officials reported a 205 percent increase in the number of those seeking testing over the past three weeks.

 

On Friday, there were 31 new cases of the virus reported in Kosciusko County, along with one additional death.

 

The area’s 7-day positivity rating is again over 11 percent, and there were additional deaths reported in DeKalb, Huntington and Adams counties.

 

The area’s ICU capacity is down to 13.5 percent, with about a quarter of the area’s most critical units filled with COVID patients.

 

There are 214 area residents hospitalized with COVID-19, among the 1,744 hospitalized statewide.

 

Indiana saw more than 4,000 new cases reported on Friday. The last time there were more than 4,000 reported in the state was Jan. 14.

 

Kosciusko County's extended hours begin Wednesday. They will be open at the Bowen Center, 2621 E. Jefferson Street, Warsaw, on Monday, Wednesdays, Thursday, and Fridays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Tuesdays 2 to 6 p.m. and the second Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

 

Northeast Indiana totals for Aug. 20:

  • Adams County: 19 new cases for 3,876 total. 2 new deaths for 58 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 36%.
  • Allen County: 226 new cases for 46,483 total. No new deaths for 710 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 53.1%.
  • DeKalb County: 18 new cases for 4,875 total. 1 new death for 88 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 40.8%.
  • Huntington County: 61 new cases for 5,004 total. No new deaths for 84 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 45%.
  • Kosciusko County: 31 new cases for 10,119 total. 1 new death for 125 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 40.4%.
  • LaGrange County: 2 new cases for 2,852 total. No new deaths for 73 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 24.5%.
  • Noble County: 23 new cases for 6,342 total. No new deaths for 93 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 39.5%.
  • Steuben County: 24 new cases for 4,258 total. No new deaths for 63 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.7%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 44.9%.
  • Wabash County: 22 new cases for 4,005 total. No new deaths for 84 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 39.8%.
  • Wells County: 8 new cases for 3,239 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.3%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.7%.
  • Whitley County: 17 new cases for 4,448 total. No new deaths for 46 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 43.9%.
