Area health commissioners and health departments urged area residents to seek out a vaccine and mask up regardless of status as COVID-19 continues to spread throughout the area.

Allen County made a similar announcement Monday.

Northeast Indiana saw seven more deaths reported Tuesday, including three in Allen County and one each in Adams, DeKalb, Kosciusko, and Whitley counties, according to state and local health department data.

The area saw 444 new cases of the virus reported on Tuesday, the highest number outside of mid-January.

In Allen County, those between the ages of 20 to 29 make up nearly 20 percent of those infected with the virus.

In northeast Indiana, only 14 percent of the area’s ICU capacity remains, with more than 26 percent tied up with COVID patients. There are 242 area residents hospitalized with the virus.
