Aug. 26: COVID Cases In NE Indiana Counties Continue To Climb

  COVID-19 rates continue to climb in northeast Indiana counties, particularly in places with lower vaccination rates.

Over the past four days, Noble County saw 155 new cases reported and two deaths. The county’s vaccination rate is among the lowest in the area, at 39.8 percent.

 

Noble County’s rising numbers are mirrored in DeKalb, Huntington and Kosciusko counties, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

On Thursday, there were a total of 637 new cases reported in northeast Indiana, including 302 in Allen County.

 

An additional death was reported in Allen County, bringing the total to 714, according to the Allen County Health Department.

The area’s 7-day positivity rate stands at 11.3 percent, while statewide the rate is at 10.8 percent.

There is only 12 percent of the area’s ICU capacity remaining due to the continued rise of COVID cases, and there are 266 area residents hospitalized with the illness.

Statewide, there are 2,108 individuals hospitalized with the virus.

There are 3,072,178 Hoosiers fully-vaccinated, an increase of 6,499 over the previous day.

Northeast Indiana's totals for Aug. 26:

  • Adams County: 15 new cases for 3,971 total. No new deaths for 60 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.7%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 36.3%.
  • Allen County: 302 new cases for 47,891 total. 1 new death for 714 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 53.7%.
  • DeKalb County: 45 new cases for 5,030 total. No new deaths for 89 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.2%.
  • Huntington County: 72 new cases for 5,314 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 45.6%.
  • Kosciusko County: 30 new cases for 10,278 total. No new deaths for 127 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.7%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 40.9%.
  • LaGrange County: 1 new case for 2,883 total. No new deaths for 73 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 24.6%.
  • Noble County: 61 new cases for 6,537 total. 1 new death for 95 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.7%. Eligible population fully vaccinated at 39.8%.
  • Steuben County: 20 new cases for 4,463 total. No new deaths for 64 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.5%. Eligible population fully vaccinated at 45.3%.
  • Wabash County: 32 new cases for 4,173 total. No new deaths for 86 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated at 40.2%.
  • Wells County: 13 new cases for 3,346 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10%. Eligible population fully vaccinated at 42.1%.
  • Whitley County: 46 new cases for 4,610 total. No new deaths for 47 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 44.5%.
