COVID-19 Positivity Rates Climbing Around The State

Indiana’s statewide COVID-19 positivity rate for the past week is now approaching 12 percent, climbing to 11.7 percent.

 

The World Health Organization labels any rate over 5 percent as dangerous indicators of community spread of the disease.

 

Almost all northeast Indiana counties are over 10 percent, as rates of the illness continue to grow.

 

There were 5,218 new cases of COVID-19 in Indiana Monday from Sunday. Twenty-six deaths were reported.

 

In Allen County, 316 residents have tested positive for COVID-19, bringing the total to 14,585 cases Monday.

 

All northeast Indiana counties saw double-digit increases in the number of new cases Monday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health.

 

Statewide, the lion’s share of those infected with the virus are between the ages of 30-60, with 42 percent of the cases in those age groups total.

 

Hospitalizations climbed to a new high of 2,768.

 
Northeast Indiana cases for Monday are:

  • Adams County:  50 new cases for 1,351 total. No new deaths and 15 total.
  • Allen County:  316 new cases for 14,585 total. No new deaths and 264 total.
  • DeKalb County: 35 new cases for 1,437 total. No new deaths and 17 total.
  • Huntington County:  21 new cases for 920 total. No new deaths and seven total.
  • Kosciuscko County:  128 new cases for 3,602 total. No new deaths and 38 total.
  • LaGrange County:  12 new cases for 1,228 total. No new deaths and 23 total.
  • Noble County: 42 new cases for 2,097 total. Two new deaths and 42 total.
  • Steuben County: 31 new cases for 1,156 total. No new deaths and 12 total.
  • Wabash County: 35 new cases for 1,141 total. One new death and 17 total.
  • Wells County: 18 new cases for 939 total. No new deaths and 20 total.
  • Whitley County: 22 new cases for 1,034 total. One new death and eight total.
