Dangerous Weather To Continue Through Thursday, But A Weekend Reprieve Is Expected

Zach Bernard/WBOI News

Dangerously cold temperatures are expected to continue through the night and into Thursday throughout the Northeast Indiana region.

The wind chill warning from the National Weather Service of Northeast Indiana is in effect until 2 pm Thursday afternoon.

Tonight’s low temperature will fall to -18 degrees, resulting in a wind chill of -40. Those conditions are likely to stick around into Thursday, where the high will work its way up to 3 degrees, but the wind chill is still expected to hover around -35.

Things will take a turn Thursday night, as the wind chill is expected to work its way back to -10, leading to cloudy skies and a high of 22 degrees on Friday. But residents won’t have dodged this bout of winter weather entirely: 2-4 inches of snow is forecast Thursday night into Friday morning.

Snow is likely to end early Friday afternoon, followed by a significant warm-up over the weekend, reaching a projected high of 39 degrees on Saturday and 48 on Sunday.

WBOI has created a list of tips and tricks for getting through the cold weather safely.
