Neighborhood Health in Fort Wayne is now offering rapid antigen testing as of Monday morning.

The news comes as hospitalizations and ICU usage by COVID-19 patients ticked up slightly to begin the week.

The rapid test results can be prepared in ten minutes and can be used for patients who are within five days of the onset of COVID-19 symptoms. Longer -- and more accurate -- PCR tests are also available for use “when appropriate,” according to a release from Neighborhood Health.

A test will be performed “when patients are evaluated at a scheduled appointment with a provider” at Neighborhood Health’s southside location, 3350 Paulding Road.

Eighteen additional COVID-19 patients were hospitalized in northeast Indiana Sunday than had been reported on Saturday, according to the Indiana State Department of Health. That total is now 288.

ICU capacity in northeast Indiana is at 21.6 percent remaining, with 26.5 percent of the units filled with COVID-19 patients.
