Feb. 22: COVID Numbers Continue To Improve

Whitley and Huntington counties’ 7-day positivity rates are on the way down, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

Both counties remain in the orange for community spread according to the state’s COVID-19 dashboard.

 

DeKalb and Steuben counties also remain in the orange. The designation is based on the number of cases per 100,000 residents, as well as 7-day positivity rates.

 

LaGrange County remains the only northeast Indiana county with the best rating for community spread. All other area counties have the second-highest rating.

 

There were 105 new cases of COVID-19 reported in the area on Sunday into Monday. The 7-day positivity rate for the area stands at 6 percent.

 

There are 78 northeast Indiana residents hospitalized with the illness, and 10.9 percent of the area’s ICU capacity consists of COVID patients.

 

In northeast Indiana, those between the ages of 50-59 are the most infected with the virus, with 16 percent of positive cases. Those between the ages of 20-29 and 40-49 are next with 15.7 percent.

 

Statewide, the 7-day positivity rate stands at 4.1 percent, and those between the ages of 20-29 make up 18.2 percent of positive cases.

 
Northeast Indiana numbers for Feb. 22:
 

  • Adams County: 7 new cases for 3,199 total. No new deaths for 49 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.7%.
  • Allen County: 55 new cases for 35,578 total. No new deaths for 625 total.  7-day positivity rate at 6.2%.
  • DeKalb County: 3 new cases for 3,814 total.  No new deaths for 77 total.  7-day positivity rate at 9.6%.
  • Huntington County: 8 new cases for 3,376 total. No new deaths for 76 total.  7-day positivity rate at 5.8%.
  • Kosciusko County: 2 new cases for 8,504 total. No new deaths for 107 total.  7-day positivity rate at 3.2%.
  • LaGrange County: 2 new cases for 2,401 total. No new deaths for 70 total.  7-day positivity rate at 4.6%.
  • Noble County: 7 new cases for 5,060 total. No new deaths for 75 total.  7-day positivity rate at 5.7%.
  • Steuben County: 4 new cases for 3,353 total. No new deaths for 55 total.  7-day positivity rate at 7.6%.
  • Wabash County: 9 new cases for 3,285 total. No new deaths for 75 total.  7-day positivity rate at 2.5%.
  • Wells County: 4 new cases for 2,548 total. No new deaths for 74 total.  7-day positivity rate at 6.1%.
  • Whitley County: 4 new cases for 3,455 total. No new deaths for 35 total.  7-day positivity rate at 10.2%
