Fort Wayne’s Plan Commission is considering a proposal from Electric Works developer RTM Ventures that would jumpstart the second phase of the project.
With everything in order for the $240 million first phase, construction is underway at the site of Fort Wayne’s former General Electric Campus. As development continues, the development team has its sights on the next phase, and the centerpiece is a massive, 1,100-space parking garage.
RTM Ventures is also asking for 2.6 acres of the former campus to be rezoned to be considered “urban core,” which would allow for them to build additional apartments, retail and fitness establishments.
The price tag will cost an estimated $106 million.
Residents were able to add input during the meeting, as the proposal was simply in its introductory stage. Concerns from residents largely centered around how the change would impact their own residential parking spaces near and in the neighborhood around the campus.
The Plan Commission will approve or reject the proposal during next week’s meeting.
