June 16: All Of NE Indiana In The "Blue" For COVID Spread

All of northeast Indiana is now in the state’s best category for community spread of COVID-19 as vaccine rates continue to inch upward, very slowly in some counties.

 

The average 7-day positivity rate for the region is 2.3 percent, and there were only 25 new cases of the virus reported on Wednesday from Tuesday.

 

Almost all of Indiana is now in the “blue” for COVID spread, based on cases per 100,000 residents and 7-day positivity rates.

 

Only seven counties remain in the state’s second-best category, or “yellow”, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

One death was reported Wednesday from Whitley County, which saw one new case reported as well.

 

LaGrange County remains the slowest county for vaccination rates in the entire state, with just 22.3 percent of its eligible population fully vaccinated.

 

Allen County saw 10 new cases reported Wednesday, and the total of those lost to the virus has held steady for the past few days at 691.

 

Northeast Indiana totals for June 16:

  • Adams County: 3 new cases for 3,453 total. No new deaths for 55 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.3%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 33%.
  • Allen County: 10 new cases for 41,806 total. No new deaths for 691 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 45.6%.
  • DeKalb County: 4 new cases for 4,430 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 38.6%.
  • Huntington County: No new cases for 4,022 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.5%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 44.6%.
  • Kosciusko County: 4 new cases for 9,619 total. No new deaths for 119 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 35.6%.
  • LaGrange County: No new cases for 2,730 total. No new deaths for 72 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 22.3%.
  • Noble County: 2 new cases for 5,805 total. No new deaths for 87 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 34.3%.
  • Steuben County: 1 new case for 3,995 total. No new deaths for 59 total. 7-day positivity rate 5.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 42.5%.
  • Wabash County: No new cases for 3,606 total. No new deaths for 83 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 36.6%.
  • Wells County: No new cases for 2,951 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 38.1%.
  • Whitley County: 1 new case for 4,061 total. 1 new death for 43 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.4%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 42.4%.
