The first phase of Fort Wayne’s riverfront development project will cost the city a little more than first anticipated, and take some extra time.
Parks director Steve McDaniel informed City Council Tuesday night the contract with Hagerman Group is currently $277,500 over agreed terms. Several state and federal permits took longer to secure due to questions on hydraulic modeling and historic preservation, setting the project back 30 weeks.
Council wasn’t too concerned, however; the first phase of the riverfront project is slated to open in summer 2019 -- only a few months later than initial projections -- with visible progress being made on the site.
Council voted unanimously (7-0) in favor of amending the contract to reflect the permitting challenges.
