The Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Iowa Heartlanders 4-1 Tuesday night, advancing to the next round of the Kelly Cup Playoffs.
Iowa dominated the first period physically and went into the intermission up 1-0. The Komets regrouped in the second and would go on to score four unanswered goals to win Tuesday’s decisive Game 7 at the Coliseum.
The Komets advance to the next round and will take on the Toledo Walleye, who swept the Indy Fuel in their series. Toledo led the Central Division all year and won the season series against the Komets 5-3.
Games 1 and 2 will be Friday and Saturday in Toledo with a 7:15 puck drop each night. The series makes its way to Fort Wayne for Games 3, 4 and – if necessary – 5, starting Monday.
