Indiana Poet Laureate

Arthur Mapes was a self-taught writer who wrote poems in his free time from his factory job, going on to write the poem 'Indiana' and serve as poet laureate for the state.

Curtis Crisler, a Gary native, is the second poet chosen from PFW to represent the Hoosier state for poetry.
