Ball State Schedules First In-Person Graduation Ceremonies Since 2019

Ball State University will once again hold in-person graduation ceremonies this spring, after COVID-19 precautions canceled several ceremonies in 2020.

The Muncie school says a series of ceremonies in May will be held outdoors at the football stadium to accommodate physical distancing.  Graduate students will be recognized on Friday, May 7th and undergraduates on Saturday, May 8th.  Saturday’s schedule includes four different ceremonies – the first begins at 8:00 AM and the last at 8:00 PM.

Ball State is also planning graduation ceremonies for the class of 2020, which missed the opportunity to graduate in front of family and friends.  It’s something President Geoffrey Mearns promised to do when ceremonies were originally canceled.

The class of 2020’s commencement is now set for Saturday, May 15.  Officials say they may hold more than one ceremony that day at Scheumann Stadium, depending on how many people return to campus for the opportunity.
