Galindo Appointed To State Commission

City of Fort Wayne

Fort Wayne’s Community Liaison Palermo Galindo was appointed to Indiana’s Commission on Hispanic and Latino Affairs Thursday.

Indiana Senate President Pro Tem David Long appointed Galindo to the position. The commission is a nonpartisan state agency that identifies, measures and reviews programs and legislation and investigates challenges and opportunities affecting Indiana's Hispanic and Latino community.

Galindo says it’s an honor to see his work in Fort Wayne get rewarded with his appointment, and hopes to make a big difference with a larger platform.

“Through the networking and being able to work to better our communities and strive for a better quality of life for all -- that’s what my goal is,” he said.

In a statement, Mayor Tom Henry says Galindo “works tirelessly on behalf of Hispanic and Latino residents in the Fort Wayne community, and now he'll be able to put his expertise to use statewide.”

Galindo has worked for the City of Fort Wayne for nine years. He says he will meet with some commissioners from around the state next week for the first time.
