Northwest Allen County Schools Offers Meal Packs During Closure

On Wednesday, Northwest Allen County Schools began meal services for students who rely on school meals during closures due to coronavirus.


The district is offering both breakfast and lunch to students who might otherwise not get these meals during the day when school is closed.


The meals can be picked up at one of the two pick-up locations, Huntertown Elementary and Carroll High School, or can be delivered if transportation isn’t available.


Parents or guardians are also able to order ahead for the week or individually. Lizette Downey is the Chief Communications Officer for Northwest Allen County Schools. She says the option to pre-order makes planning easier for the district.


“You don’t have to order ahead, we will have extra lunches or meal packets at the sites, but we do encourage preorders, that will help us make sure that we do have enough meals at both sites.”


Downey also says, if picking up from Carroll they must be a student of Northwest Allen County, but at Huntertown, they’ll be giving meals to any child who needs it.


Pick up is available 11 AM to 1 PM Monday through Friday and 5:30 to 6:30 PM on Tuesday and Thursday. See below for how to order ahead and where to pick up at both of the schools.
