Foellinger Foundation Announces Emergency Fund for Allen Nonprofits

FOELLINGER FOUNDATION

In an effort to strengthen Allen County nonprofits amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Foellinger Foundation announced new grant support for nonprofits in Allen County on Tuesday and their first recipient today.

The Foellinger Foundation is committing $1.35 million to various organizations in the form of Critical Response Grants.

The money is being divided between multiple funds for nonprofits which meet certain qualifications.

Foellinger Foundation President Cheryl Taylor says the foundation’s history as a community citizen creates a responsibility for them.

“To step up, particularly in times of crises, and figure out how we can support those organizations that are helping the rest of the citizens,” she said.

About $1.1 million of the fund is committed to community organizations already funded by Foellinger, while organizations that aren’t funded but qualify can apply for up to $5,000 from the Emergency Response Rapid Grants or up to $25,000 through the Innovative Rapid Grant.

The foundation has already awarded its first Innovative Rapid Grant to Blue Jacket for a custom cleaning and disinfecting service to other local nonprofits, free of charge. Blue Jacket is a Fort Wayne-based non-profit that provides jobs and job training to ex-offenders, as well others with barriers to employment.
