Update as of 12 p.m. April 10: Allen County is now reporting 129 cases, with nine fatalities.
Allen County’s coronavirus count is now over 100, with 14 new cases reported since Wednesday afternoon.
As of Thursday afternoon, there were 112 individuals in Allen County who have tested positive for the novel coronavirus. The disease has claimed the lives of nine Allen County residents.
Numbers have jumped up elsewhere in northeast Indiana. Noble County has 13 cases, Steuben County has 12 cases. Kosciusko County has 16 cases and Whitley County has eight. Huntington County has six, and LaGrange County has seven.
WANE reported an outbreak in late March at the Life Care Center of Fort Wayne, a nursing home on Spy Run Avenue. According to reports, five residents and one staff member have tested positive.
In a press release Thursday, the Allen County Commissioners are asking churches and citizens around the county to ring bells at noon on Sunday, Easter Sunday for the majority of Christianity. Most churches are not holding services due to the “stay-at-home” order in place to slow the spread of the virus.
The Indiana Department of Health reported 430 new cases of the virus from Wednesday to Thursday, the second day in a row the number of reported new cases declined. Indiana Health Commissioner Dr. Kris Box said she would not call it a trend during the state’s daily COVID-19 pandemic update.
