Citizens Square and the Rousseau Centre in downtown Fort Wayne will reopen to the public on Monday.

Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry and Allen County’s Board of Commissioners announced the decision Friday morning. Citizens Square and the Rousseau Center have been shut down to the public since March 18 in response to the ongoing COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic. That closure was progressively extended throughout April.

In the two months both buildings have been closed to the public, hand sanitizer stations, signage marking social distancing placement, and plexiglass shields for employee and public interactions have been installed.

City and county meetings, such as Fort Wayne City Council and the Allen County Board of Commissioners, have continued in these buildings on a limited basis, as well.

Officials are asking visitors to both buildings to make use of the hand sanitizer stations and continue practice social distancing, and no more than two individuals can share an elevator at a time.

Walk-in service to City Utilities will continue to be closed. Residents are encouraged to pay bills online, in the service kiosk at Citizens Square, or to call the department with any questions.
