Record Setting COVID-19 Numbers Around The State, Region

Rebecca Green

Northeast Indiana saw record-setting reporting Thursday for COVID-19 infections, as did the state, according to public health data.

Allen County reported 243 new cases of the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, bringing the county’s total to 9,171. No new deaths were reported Thursday.

After seeing numbers climb to an average of about 1,000 a day just a few weeks ago, and hitting 2,000 for the first time on Oct. 15, Indiana saw 3,649 new cases reported Thursday.

Nearly 460 of those cases were reported in northeast Indiana, where there were also three new deaths reported.

Those between the ages of 50-59 represent the highest percentage of those testing positive for COVID-19 in northeast Indiana.

Statewide, hospitalizations were at their highest level since March 13, and only 600 patients off the record.
