Around 3 percent of Indiana’s 6.73 million people have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and a full 10 percent have received at least one shot.
And just under 10 percent of Hoosiers have tested positive for the illness.
There were 163 new cases reported in northeast Indiana, and four new deaths. The 7-day positivity rate for northeast Indiana has dropped to 7.9 percent, according to the Indiana Department of Health and local data.
The highest 7-day positivity rate for the area is, again, Whitley County with 12.4 percent. The county remains in the red on the state’s coronavirus dashboard for community spread.
Hospitalizations due to COVID-19 in northeast Indiana are now down to 109, the lowest number since early October. ICU capacity is down to 23 percent, but the majority of those needing critical care are not afflicted with COVID.
Statewide, there are 1,265 Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19, and the 7-day positivity rate is 6.4 percent.
The World Health Organization cautions that any 7-day positivity rate over 5 percent is dangerous for community spread.
