Snow Fall to Cause Hazardous Conditions Throughout the Week

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Northern Indiana until 10 AM on Tuesday, with snow fall expected to continue throughout the day today and into tomorrow morning.

National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Roller said the majority of snow totals across the area have been between 1-2 inches.

“As we kind of turn towards tonight, a larger system will be moving into the area," he said. "Kind of more vigorous, as well.”

Roller said to expect the snow to be moving in especially in the early evening and packing a punch of 1-2 inches per hour.

“And with that, expecting gusts between 20-30 miles per hour and with kind of the fluffy nature of the snow and the additional low visibility of kind of that blowing and drifting snow occurring, expecting driving to be pretty hazardous,” he said.

Fort Wayne Public Works said in a release today the Street Department pre-treated the city’s main arteries on Sunday and are prepared to plow around the clock during the incoming snow systems.

Public Works also announced garbage and recycling collection to be slower due to snow and encouraged patients from residents.
