COVID Case Numbers Continue To Decline Statewide, Locally

For the fourth straight day, Indiana saw fewer than 1,000 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday, with 786 new cases reported.

Statewide positivity for the past 7 days is at 4.5 percent, below the 5 percent that is deemed unsafe for community spread by the World Health Organization.

 

In northeast Indiana, Huntington, DeKalb and Steuben counties saw their scores decline on Thursday, with both now in the orange on the state’s COVID-19 dashboard. 

 

There were only 68 new cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in northeast Indiana, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

The 7-day positivity rate in northeast Indiana is at 6.2 percent. For the third straight day, there were more than 100 northeast Indiana residents hospitalized with COVID-19 in the area.

 

However, no new cases of COVID-19 were reported in Whitley and LaGrange counties, and positivity rates are below 5 percent in Adams, Kosciusko, LaGrange and Wabash counties.

 

ICU capacity in northeast Indiana is at 26.8 percent.

 

Northeast Indiana totals for Feb. 18 are:

  • Adams County: 2 new cases for 3,178 total. No new deaths for 49 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.6%.
  • Allen County: 42 new cases for 35,324 total. No new deaths for 625 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.4%.
  • DeKalb County: 4 new cases for 3,823 total. No new deaths for 75 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.8%.
  • Huntington County: 6 new cases for 3,315 total. No new deaths for 76 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.3%.
  • Kosciusko County: 6 new cases for 8,464 total. No new deaths for 107 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.6%.
  • LaGrange County: No new cases for 2,391 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.1%.
  • Noble County: 1 new case for 5,028 total. No new deaths for 75 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.1%.
  • Steuben County: 2 new cases for 3,328 total. No new deaths for 55 total. 7-day positivity rate at 9.6%.
  • Wabash County: 3 new cases for 3,263 total. No new deaths for 74 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.9%.
  • Wells County: 2 new cases for 2,514 total. No new deaths for 73 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.0%.
  • Whitley County: No new cases for 3,420 total. No new deaths for 35 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.3%.
