Seven-day positivity rates for COVID-19 in northeast Indiana are at 4.5 percent on Friday. The rate statewide was down to 3.3 percent.
One new death was reported in the region, in Whitley County, on Friday. There are now 66 people hospitalized with the illness, 10 more than Thursday, according to the Indiana Department of Health.
DeKalb, Steuben and Whitley counties all have positivity rates of 6.5 percent or above. Adams County is now up to 5 percent.
Most of northeast Indiana is largely in the “yellow” on the state’s coronavirus dashboard. The rating is the second best for safety in regards to spread of COVID-19.
The lowest 7-day positivity rates in the area belong to Kosciusko, LaGrange, Wabash and Noble counties.
Only 6.3 percent of the area’s ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients.
Totals in northeast Indiana for March 5:
- Adams County: 4 new cases for 3,251 total. No new deaths for 49 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5%.
- Allen County: 47 new cases for 36,147 total. No new deaths for 638 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.6%.
- DeKalb County: 1 new case for 3,907 total. No new deaths for 76 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.6%.
- Huntington County: 10 new cases for 3,483 total. No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.5%.
- Kosciusko County: 6 new cases for 8,588 total. No new deaths for 111 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.6%.
- LaGrange County: 4 new cases for 2,421 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.8%.
- Noble County: 5 new cases for 5,109 total. No new deaths for 78 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.1%.
- Steuben County: 2 new cases for 3,398 total. No new deaths for 55 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.5%.
- Wabash County: 4 new cases for 3,330 total. No new deaths for 76 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.5%.
- Wells County: 3 new cases for 2,589 total. No new deaths for 75 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5%.
- Whitley County: 4 new cases for 3,506 total. 1 new death for 38 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.6%.
