Some northeast Indiana counties saw their COVID-19 status downgraded on Wednesday, sliding from the state’s top category for community spread to the next lowest.
Adams, Allen, Wells, and LaGrange counties all lost their “blue” designation, and are now in the yellow as their positivity rates have climbed in recent days, as have the number of cases per 100,000 residents.
Noble County’s status improved from yellow to blue on Wednesday, with an improvement in positivity rates for the past seven days.
No new deaths were reported in the area on Wednesday, and the area’s 7-day positivity rate stands at 5.1 percent, up from 4.8 percent on Monday.
Statewide, the 7-day positivity rate has held steady at 3.1 percent.
In the northeast corner of the state, those between the ages of 40-49 and 50-59 each make up 15.9 percent of those infected. Those between the ages of 20-29 make up 15.8 percent of those infected with COVID-19.
Throughout the rest of the state, the largest infected group by age is those between the ages of 20-29 at 18.2 percent.
Hospitalizations in northeast Indiana due to COVID-19 is at 32, with only 4.5 percent of the area’s ICU capacity occupied by COVID patients.
