March 26: COVID Cases Up Locally, Statewide

Screenshot of the Indiana Department of Health

Allen County reported more than 100 new cases of COVID-19 on Friday, among the more than 1,100 new cases reported statewide.

Indiana has not reported more than 1,000 daily cases since March 5, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

Kosciusko County reported 20 additional cases on Friday, a spike not seen early February.

As Indiana nears the loosening of COVID-19 restrictions at the beginning of April, some numbers were on the rise at the end of the week, including the statewide 7-day positivity rate, up every day in the past week.

Statewide hospitalizations were up to 627, and at 51 in the region.

However, vaccinations continue and only LaGrange County has less than 10 percent of its population fully vaccinated.

Adams County is now in the state’s safest category for COVID-19 spread, along with DeKalb, Noble, LaGrange, Kosciusko and Wabash counties. The remaining northeast Indiana counties are in the second-safest category.

Northeast Indiana totals for March 26:
