March 30: COVID-19 Positivity Up, Community Spread Stays Steady

Screenshot of the Indiana Department of Health

Even though northeast Indiana’s 7-day positivity rate has gone up daily for the past week, the number of counties ranked among the state’s safest for COVID-19 has held steady.

Adams, DeKalb, Kosciusko, LaGrange and Noble counties are all “blue” on the Indiana COVID-19 dashboard, the lowest advisory level for community spread.

The color-coded dashboard uses not just the 7-day positivity rate but also the cases per 100,000 residents.

Allen, Huntington, Steuben, Wells and Whitley counties are all in the state’s second-lowest advisory category, identified as “yellow” on the map, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

There were 128 new cases of COVID-19 reported in northeast Indiana on Tuesday.

Five new deaths were reported in Allen County, another reconciliation between state and county data. This brings the total of Allen County residents lost to COVID-19 to 663, according to Allen County Department of Health data.

Statewide, the majority of COVID-19 cases are those between the ages of 20-29 with 18.3 percent.

In northeast Indiana, the most infections are split between those 20-29, 40-49 and 60-69, with each group making up 15.9 percent of the population infected with COVID.
