As the last full week of June ends, Indiana’s COVID-19 vaccination rates hit their lowest since vaccines were made available in mid-December.
According to the Indiana Department of Health, there were 6,967 doses of the vaccine administered on Thursday, June 24. That was down from a high of 51,350 doses on April 12.
In Allen County, 47 percent of the eligible population is fully vaccinated against the disease, the highest in the region.
The lowest vaccination rate in the area, and in the state, remains LaGrange County, at just 22.7 percent.
There were 26 new cases of the illness reported in northeast Indiana Thursday into Friday, and the area’s 7-day positivity rate continues to slide downwards, now at 1.8 percent.
All of northeast Indiana remains in the state’s best category for community spread, based on cases per 100,000 and 7-day positivity rates.
Only 18 area residents remain hospitalized due to COVID, among the 369 statewide.
Around Indiana, the 7-day positivity rate is at 2.2 percent. There were three more deaths reported Friday.
