Aug. 9: Delta Drives Reminders Of COVID Precautions

Parkview Health is reminding area residents that COVID-19 safety protocols remain in place throughout the network, including visitor restrictions and mask requirements.

The reminder comes amid continued rising hospitalizations throughout northeast Indiana and the rest of the state, with the number of those hospitalized with the virus at a rate not seen since early February.

In northeast Indiana, there are 134 residents hospitalized with COVID-19.

However, the number of Hoosiers receiving their vaccinations for the virus has gone back up above 9,000 shots a day consistently for the past few weeks amid the continuing threat of the highly contagious Delta variant.

So far, nearly 2.99 million Indiana residents are fully vaccinated against COVID, with 163,857 of those in Allen County.

Allen County is the only northeast Indiana county with more than 50 percent of its residents fully vaccinated.

Adams, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Noble, and Wabash counties are all under 40 percent for the rate of eligible population fully vaccinated, according to the Indiana Department of Health.
