Aug. 16: COVID Positivity Rates Continue Climb

No new deaths due to COVID-19 were reported Monday, but there were 1,902 new cases reported statewide.

In northeast Indiana, 261 new cases were reported, and the 7-day positivity rate is 10.6 percent.

 

Allen County saw 136 of those new cases, and now has had a total of 45,594 known cases of COVID since the start of the pandemic. 

 

More than 52 percent of the county’s eligible population has been fully vaccinated.

 

Throughout the area, 7-day positivity rates are above 10 percent in six counties. The lowest rate remains in Kosciusko County at 4.8 percent, with LaGrange County the highest at 13.3 percent.

 

In northeast Indiana, around 18 percent of the area’s ICU capacity remains, while there is 29 percent available statewide. 

 

There are 183 residents of northeast Indiana hospitalized with the virus.

 

There are more than 3 million Hoosiers fully-vaccinated against the virus, about 51.5 percent of the state’s vaccine-eligible population.

 

Northeast Indiana totals:

  • Adams County: 6 new cases for 3,766 total. No new deaths for 56 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 35.7%.
  • Allen County: 136 new cases for 45,594 total. No new deaths for 703 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 52.6%.
  • DeKalb County: 15 new cases for 4,809 total. No new deaths for 87 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 40.4%.
  • Huntington County: 35 new cases for 4,791 total. No new deaths for 82 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.3%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 44.6%.
  • Kosciusko County: 15 new cases for 15,011 total. No new deaths for 124 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 39.6%.
  • LaGrange County: 2 new cases for 2,832 total. No new deaths for 73 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 24.3%.
  • Noble County: 13 new cases for 6,243 total. No new deaths for 92 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.7%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 39.1%.
  • Steuben County: 10 new cases for 4,283 total. No new deaths for 62 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.3%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 44.6.%.
  • Wabash County: 12 new cases for 3,908 total. No new deaths for 84 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 39.6%.
  • Wells County: 9 new case for 3,193 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.5%.
  • Whitley County: 8 new cases for 4,384 total. No new deaths for 45 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.5%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 43.0%.
