Aug. 31: Nine COVID Deaths Reported In Area

Nine new COVID-19 deaths were reported in northeast Indiana on Tuesday, including four in Allen County, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

Allen County Health Department data has not yet counted the four additional deaths, which is not unusual in the sharing of information between state and local officials.

 

So far 721 Allen County residents have died due to the virus, and a total of 49,020 have been infected, including an addition of 211 counted Tuesday.

 

The area’s 7-day positivity rate is at 11.7 percent, and a total of 395 new cases were reported.

 

Deaths were reported Tuesday in Adams, Allen, Huntington, Kosciusko, Noble, and Wells counties.

 

The area’s average vaccination rate is 41.6 percent, with Allen County now over 54 percent of the eligible population fully vaccinated.

 

LaGrange County remains the lowest in the area, and the state, at 24.8 percent.

 

An additional 6,290 Hoosiers are now fully vaccinated, bringing the total of those receiving all their doses of the COVID-19 inoculation to 3.1 million.

 

Northeast Indiana totals:

  • Adams County: 20 new cases for 4,082 total. 2 new deaths for 63 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.1%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 36.6%.
  • Allen County: 211 new cases for 49,020 total. 4 new deaths for 721 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.7%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 54.3%.
  • DeKalb County: 12 new cases for 5,146 total. No new deaths for 89 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.6%.
  • Huntington County: 22 new cases for 5,466 total. 1 new death for 87 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 45.9%.
  • Kosciusko County: 25 new cases for 10,450 total. 1 new death for 128 total. 7-day positivity rate at 7.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 41.2%.
  • LaGrange County: 4 new cases for 2,911 total. No new deaths for 73 total. 7-day positivity rate at 8.5%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 24.8%.
  • Noble County: 30 new cases for 6,717 total. 1 new death for 97 total. 7-day positivity rate at 11.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 40.1%.
  • Steuben County: 11 new cases for 4,543 total. No new deaths for 64 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.9%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 45.7%.
  • Wabash County: 17 new cases for 4,332 total. No new deaths for 86 total. 7-day positivity rate at 12.2%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 40.6%.
  • Wells County: 18 new cases for 3,443 total. 1 new death for 82 total. 7-day positivity rate at 10.8%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 42.5%.
  • Whitley County: 25 new cases for 4,740 total. No new deaths for 48 total. 7-day positivity rate at 13.6%. Eligible population fully vaccinated 44.8%.
