Cummins To Reduce Global Workforce By 2,000 Before End Of Year

Columbus-based manufacturer Cummins announced to employees last week it will cut around 2,000 workers from its global workforce.

In a statement, the company says they’ve already taken several actions in response to declining revenues, and they anticipate the job cuts will be complete by the end of the year.

Cummins says their downturn in profits are occurring at a greater than expected pace, and these actions, while painful for affected employees, will make the company healthier in the long-run.

Earlier this year, Cummins said retaliatory tariffs from the Chinese government were costing it $100 million  per year.

It’s still unclear how many local employees will be impacted.
