The City of Fort Wayne and Allen County announced Friday their intent to collaborate on the community’s next comprehensive plan.
This will be the second time Fort Wayne and Allen County have created a joint comprehensive plan; they issued Plan-It Allen in 2007, but 12 years later the goals and projects outlined in the plan have either been accomplished or became outdated.
As such, both parties have sent out a request for proposal to create a new version of the plan. The request for proposal outlines five priorities:
- Create a shared vision for future growth and development
- Encompass meaningful and inclusive public engagement
- Identify stakeholders
- Establish clear guidance with a user-friendly document
- Establish an achievable implementation plan
Proposals are due by July 16, with both parties hoping to launch the project in January. In a statement, the City of Fort Wayne says public engagement will be “essential” to the planning process, and promised “significant opportunity” for residents to provide input.
