June 4: COVID Numbers Stable Locally

Two COVID-19 deaths were reported in northeast Indiana over the past two days, with one in Whitley County on Thursday and the other in Kosciusko County on Friday.

There were 41 new cases of the illness reported on Friday in the area, among 405 statewide.

 

The numbers of new cases reported daily are roughly the same as at this time last year, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

The state’s 7-day positivity rate is at 4.2 percent, and at 3.3 percent locally.

 

There are 652 people hospitalized statewide due to the coronavirus, and 46 in northeast Indiana.

 

There have been 2.5 million Hoosiers fully vaccinated against COVID.

 

There is only 13 percent of ICU capacity available in northeast Indiana, with 81 percent of the area’s ICU beds occupied by non-COVID patients.

 

Northeast Indiana totals for June 4:

  • Adams County: No new cases for 3,447 total. No new deaths for 55 total. 7-day positivity rate at 0.9%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 32%.
  • Allen County: 26 new cases for 41,659 total. No new deaths for 685 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.3%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 43.1%.
  • DeKalb County: 1 new case for 4,404 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.8%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 37%.
  • Huntington County: 1 new case for 4,007 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.1%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 43%.
  • Kosciusko County: 4 new cases for 9,586 total. 1 new deaths for 119 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.3%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 34.1%.
  • LaGrange County: No new cases for 2,722 total. No new deaths for 72 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.3%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 21.8%.
  • Noble County: 4 new cases for 5,762 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.7%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 32.8%.
  • Steuben County: 1 new case for 3,959 total. No new deaths for 59 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.6%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 41.3%.
  • Wabash County: 2 new cases for 3,598 total. No new deaths for 82 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.5%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 35.4%.
  • Wells County: No new cases for 2,942 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.5%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 36.9%.
  • Whitley County: 2 new cases for 4,038 total. No new deaths for 41 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.2%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 40.9%.
