June 8: Four Additional COVID Deaths Reported In Area

Four COVID-19 deaths were reported in Allen County on Tuesday, in addition to one more over the weekend, bringing the total number of Allen County residents lost to the virus to 690.

Another death was reported Tuesday in Whitley County, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

The area’s 7-day positivity rate stands at 2.9 percent, below the state’s average of 3.6 percent.

But a couple of zip codes in the region are the state’s worst for vaccination rates, stalled out under 20 percent.

In LaGrange County, the zip codes that encompass the small communities of Shipshewana and Topeka are at 12.1 percent and 11 percent respectively for percentage of adults fully vaccinated.

LaGrange County’s overall vaccination total is at 21.9 percent, having been stuck below the rest of the area for the entirety of the vaccine rollout.

The small town of Monroe in Adams County is the third-lowest in northeast Indiana, with a total of fully-vaccinated population at 19 percent.

Adams County’s overall fully-vaccinated rate is at 32.4 percent.

Allen County has the highest vaccination rate in the area, with 43.9 percent.

  • Adams County: No new cases for 3,447 total. No new deaths for 55 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 32.4%.
  • Allen County: 11 new cases for 41,708 total. 4 new deaths for 690 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 43.9%.
  • DeKalb County: 2 new cases for 4,412 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 37.6%.
  • Huntington County: 1 new case for 4,013 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 1.4%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 43.4%.
  • Kosciusko County: 1 new case for 9,592 total. No new deaths for 119 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.8%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 34.4%.
  • LaGrange County: No new cases for 2,724 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.4%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 21.9%.
  • Noble County: 9 new cases for 5,780 total. No new deaths for 85 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.4%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 33.2%.
  • Steuben County: 5 new cases for 3,972 total. No new deaths for 59 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.5%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 41.6%.
  • Wabash County: 1 new case for 3,604 total. No new deaths for 82 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 35.7%.
  • Wells County: 2 new cases for 2,945 total. No new deaths for 81 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2.6%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 37.1%.
  • Whitley County: 2 new cases for 4,4048 total. 1 new death for 42 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.5%. Total of eligible population fully vaccinated 41.2%.
