March 16: Vaccination Numbers Climb, Other COVID Numbers Stay Steady

There are nearly 96,000 residents of northeast Indiana fully vaccinated against COVID-19, according to the Indiana Department of Health.

 

On Tuesday, the state opened its vaccine program to all Hoosiers aged 45 and over. So far, over 12 percent of Indiana’s population is vaccinated against COVID-19.

 

There were 35,423 new doses of the COVID-19 vaccine reported on Tuesday, with 875 of those shots being the single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

 

The positivity rate for the past seven days in northeast Indiana was up slightly on Tuesday, to 4.9 percent. There are 33 residents of northeast Indiana in the hospital due to COVID-19.

 

Allen County reported seven new deaths in another reconciliation between state and local fatality data, according to the Allen County Department of Health.

 

The state’s 7-day positivity rate is at 3.1 percent, and there are 619 Hoosiers hospitalized with the illness.

 

The area’s dashboard scores have not changed in recent days, with Adams, Allen, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Wabash and Wells counties remaining in the “blue”, the state’s safest designation for community spread of the virus.

 

The remaining northeast Indiana counties are all in the “yellow”, the second-best ranking for community spread. The score is based on 7-day positivity rates and cases per 100,000 residents.

 

Northeast Indiana totals of cases, deaths and vaccines:

  • Adams County: 1 new case for 3,294 total. No new deaths. 7-day positivity rate at 4.6%. 4,002 residents fully vaccinated.
  • Allen County: 54 new cases for 36,807 total. 7 new deaths for 656 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5.3%. 43,884 residents fully vaccinated.
  • DeKalb County: 3 new cases for 3,946 total. No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity at 4.4%. 4,795 residents fully vaccinated.
  • Huntington County: 6 new cases for 3,570 total. No new deaths for 78 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.3%. 5,251 residents fully vaccinated.
  • Kosciusko County: 7 new cases for 8,659 total. No new deaths for 112 total. 7-day positivity rate at 2%. 7,494 residents fully vaccinated.
  • LaGrange County: 1 new cases for 2,443 total. No new deaths for 70 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.1%. 4,329 residents fully vaccinated.
  • Noble County: 2 new cases for 5,173 total. No new deaths for 79 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.1%. 7,762 residents fully vaccinated.
  • Steuben County: 1 new case for 3,453 total. No new deaths for 57 total. 7-day positivity rate at 4.2%. 5,611 residents fully vaccinated.
  • Wabash County: 2 new cases for 3,360 total. No new deaths for 77 total. 7-day positivity rate at 3.4%. 4,406 residents fully vaccinated.
  • Wells County: 2 new cases for 2,650 total. No new deaths for 78 total. 7-day positivity rate at 5%. 3,900 residents fully vaccinated.
  • Whitley County: 8 new cases for 3,573 total. No new deaths for 39 total. 7-day positivity rate at 6.9%. 4,481 residents fully vaccinated.
